A big bula and thank you very big to all the wonderful staff and especially Joe and Michelle! Great resort and great facilities with musket cove around the corner. Spear fishing with Joe was the highlight.

Wow, Funky Fish... what can I say?! Me, my boyfriend and a friend booked this very last minute and with very little thought or expectation. After a dubious long boat ride from the ferry to Musket Cove, we fell upon a haven, a paradise! Set on Mololo Island, this hostel is about as deserted as you can get, but in the best possible way. There is a wonderful sand filled bar at the top of the hill with a spectacular view out to the ocean. The hostel was very quiet when we were there which satisfied our desires for a relaxed holiday and we got to know the other guests really well. There are excursions every day, so you can do as little or as much as you like - The highlight for me was certainly snorkelling on the reef. We actually saw a stingray! There is also coconut husking, cava ceremonies and talks on local culture and trips to other islands etc. The best thing about this hostel however, is the staff. Sam, you are a complete legend! From the moment we got out of the long boat, to the point at which you sang us goodbye, you were great. A hit with the ladies too I believe! The other staff were also fantastic, but Sam leaves a lasting impression with everyone. The cleaners actually made our beds every day! All Black Brad's wife is also hugely accommodating. There is only one drawback -- the food is rather costly and with no cooking facilities, you have no option other than to pay these prices, but we found elevated costs all over Fiji (even on the mainland) so this issue is not specific to the hostel. It rained the majority of the time we spent on the island, but thanks to Funky Fish, we still had a fantastic holiday. Take a chance with Funky Fish and you really won't regret it!!!!

Loved the staff, weather was bad the whole time, but no one is to be blammed for that. Not too many people there, so we really had teh place to ourselves, can be soon as a positive or negative.

Beautiful location. Staff wonderful, very friendly and helpful. The only downside is that there is no real beach at the resort and there are no sun-loungers by the pool. Other than that, it was really good fun - 3 to 4 days would probably be enough. Also, there is no shop on the resort.

This is a great destination! Upgraded me from the backpackers dorm to a personal bure for free due to renovations (probably won't happen again, but was v. cool!). Staff is BEYOND EXCELLENT! What make the place! And the FOOD! Sooo good and relatively affordable (breafast between $8-15, lunch $10-20, dinner $18-25 for main). Have activities for you to do (trekking to the highest point in the Mamanucas (an hour in, hour out), free use of kayaks and snorkeling gear, $20 trips to world class snorkeling sites, paid trips to famous surf breaks (have to be taken by boat - out on the reef, not at shore - not for beginner surfers), $20 handline fishing, crab races, husking coconuts, beach volleyball, trips to other islands. Unheated pool, no spa. Clean for Fiji, quieter than "party islands" like Beachcomber. Beach isn't that nice - not very big and sand not super white, but still alright. Spectacular views and beautiful overall. Get there via the Malolo Cat three times a day - $50/each way. Internet only during certain times a day and 35 cents/minute (dial up and SLOW! Don't depend on internet while you're there). Overall - really cool place w/ really awesome staff and TOTALLY worth it if you're backpacking for $35/night - can't find this many places in Fiji! Malolo is beautiful!
