we had a marvelous time here. we paid for a nice room with a private porch and truely enjoyed the morning, afternoon and evening view of the ganges. many will say the burnings cause the air to smell bad near the ganges, this is not true, so stick to your gut desire to stay on the ganges. this is a great hotel to rest and relax in, especially if you get sick. good place to meet other travellers. kele-the misses

We had a fantastic stay here in a room with a balcony overlooking the Ganges. Varanasi is an incredible place, but our stay at the Ganpati was the icing on the cake. The sights and smells we experienced from the comfort of our balcony will never be forgotten. The staff were very helpful and the rooftop restaurant, again with excellent views of the river, is recommended. A great base from which to explore the ghats, though finding it in the dark on arrival was a bit hazardous!
