If I had the choice again I would have hoped on the Papeete LA flight rather than hang around Tahiti for a few days. Not backpacker friendl at all. So expensive. Go there when u can afford to enjoy it. Stayed in Teamo Hoslel in Papeete the 1st night which is reasonable value, but there is nothing in Papeete bar an airport. The Pueu Village Hotel is a 3 Bungalows on the seafront about 70kms from Papeete. The bungalows have a double bed, Bathroom and a little kithchen. They are nice and well kept, but crying out for a TV. There is nothing really in Pueu Village to do if u havent hired a car. The family are very nice and gave us a lift to the SuperMarktet to pick up supplies. The isnt anything to do really in the resort bar chill out and look out over the lagoon. There is a beach about 45mins from the Hotel, but not a very nice one really. If u have your own transport or enjoy sitting around in the one spot for hours on end, then his place could suit you. One other thing was the pick up service. The owner mailed me pripor to arrival offering a pick up from Papeete which we opted to take. It wasnt until check out that he informed us that the return pick up service would cost us eur125 (15,000 PFR). We were slightly shocked by this amount.
