The bus from the airport stops directly outside \"chooon keeeenn maaansshuuns\" (the supermarket arcade in which Tom\'s hostel is located), home to the Asian and black community residing in Hong Kong. Upon arrival, we were greeted by several other people claiming to be \"Tom\" (unfortunately, we never got to meet Tom in person, though we heard a lot about him). When we finally found the lift that takes us to the sixteenth floor where Tom\'s hostel is located, we waited almost half a day for the lift to arrive, and wasted another half actually in it. Possibly one of the slowest lifts ever made, breaking down almost twice a day.
We arrived at our room expecting a room for three. What we actually got, was a room for one. There were two beds there. We are three guys. The woman \'Sally/Salie/Sarah\' running the place was very kind and welcoming, as was the cockroach we discovered in our towels.
Location wise, it\'s probably one of the best in Hong Kong, located on Nathan Road, about 20meters from the Subway station. So if you\'re not actually going to sleep in the place, it\'s not too bad.
On the second day, we found out that underneath our bed, this woman \'Sally\' was hiding approximately 250 take away boxes.
No cupboards to put your clothes, let alone any space to stretch your legs. The door to the toilet was made out of cardboard, the only plus side is that the toilet paper was good quality. Probably the best thing about the room.
We have been to several other places around Asia (Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Japan), and this has been by far the worst experience.
I\'ve slept in Army barracks better than this place.
Don\'t trust the onion barjees on the first floor...

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Although I must say the owner and his Filipino maid were friendly and tried to help where possible!I guess I should have told them about the issue which I didnt. THE ROOM HAS COCKROACHES AND THE BED HAS BED BUGS, both big and baby ones! How could one live there. I only put my bags there for two nights and spent my nights walking the streets before finally checkin into another place. I had to ensure that the bags and its contents were bug free when I moved....CRAZY!
