I love this hostel! Great location near to the centre of town and very socialable but not too noisy. Met loads of nice people and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly even to the point of taking me out to some cool local bars open til late and they still managed to get up and cook breakfast for everyone. On the downside it did rain for a couple of days but i can\'t say this is entirely their fault.

This is a very good place to stay if you are a backpacker! We really enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff, cheap and with good breakfast. The location is just outside the city, but it"s easy to walk to the city centre and waterfront. We would absolutely come again!

I never made it to Altona Lodge ... They could not honor my reservation because of on-going renovations. They offered to transfer me at the Kimberley Hotel (Central Cape Town). I did go but realized I could not stay there i.e. grungy looking hotel, smoky smell in bedroom, no atmosphere, local bar in the hotel ... not at all a place for a solo female backpacker. I ended finding another place to stay on my own (and loosing my deposit). I moved to the amazing Big Blue Backpackers in Greenpoint.
