haha well... its union square backpacker's hostel. if you're not expecting much, you're in for a treat. the staff / regulars are super weird. and nice? yeah nice might be the word. if you're expecting a nice organized clean hostel, this isn't it. it does have a lot of character, and wicked location. just dont expect the fairmont, which some people have come to do. its one of the cheapest in town, and its a great price for what you get. have fun!

I paid to sleep in a dorm that was all girls and ended up in a dorm that was mixed. The place wasn't that clean and the heater in my room was hanging off the wall - didn't know if it was going to catch fire or not. I wanted to stay in San Francisco for longer so booked into a different hostel.

The staff at the Backpacker's Hostel was friendly and accommodating. It's right next to the BART station and the location is great for exploring downtown. It was absolutely lovely!

If you like crazy people you defintly wanna go there. You 'll meet an Indian guy who knows everythings and has a dozen of computer, a cool Russian that will make you go out and offer you a drink, a New York wo;en that is getting paranoiac about the food etc... Really funtime, but keep an eye on your stuff, one girl got her laptop stolen

Excellent location- near the Greyhound, right in the heart of San Francisco and not far from the bay. Staff were kind and helpful. Comfy beds and free internet- I'd definitely stay here again.
