This hostel surprised me and provided a level of service far beyond any other hostel I have stayed in. It is more of a hotel with the staff ready to cater to your every wish. Cairo can be an intimidating place without a guide, but the staff sat us down our first night and asked what we wanted to do then arrange everything. All of the prices were extremely fair on these activities and far more reliable than picking someone off the street. Would stay here again and recommend you to do the same.

Very convenient downtown location on lively Talaat Harb Street. Friendly and helpful staff - gave excellent advice on the best things to do in Cairo (and how much to pay for it!) Basic but clean and tidy rooms. Overall good value.

I recommend this hotel to anyone! The owner and his staff are very helpful and friendly. The rooms are very beautiful and clean with a very good western style bathroom. I cant say anything bad about this place. For me it was the best stay in cairo!

The New Minerva, owned and managed by Aly, is spotlessly clean and quiet, the latter being a rare thing in Cairo (Rm 601 was especially so). There aren't any stairs and the old but clean elevator goes up AND down. The only downside is that some of the staff don't speak English (oddly, the night man does). I highly recommend this downtown budget hotel.
