Most ridiculously terrible hostel we have stayed at in 9 months. We got in and they said it was only booked for 1 person and therefore had to put my friend in a different room from me. I just checked my email there and it says 2 and my friend informed me that all night there was a free bed in his dorm, therefore they are obviously idiots. The people in my room talked all night and kept turning the lights on even though i asked them to stop. the whole hostel was very loud all night and also ve

Hi Peter Firstly, may I sincerely apologise for your unfortunate experience at Base Wellington. I have looked into your booking and you are right, we had overlooked the fact that you had made a booking for 2 people so this was an error our end which definitely should not have happened. It seems there is a misinterpretation of the “cost” of items that have to be “paid” for in the hostel. Yes you do have to supply us with a bond for an alarm clock, however, it is a “bond” and when the clock is returned you simply get your bond back. This is the same procedure when guests need to use, hairdryers, straightners and DVD’s. I looked into which employee was working on the front desk on the day that you checked out and I am extremely surprised that you have found this particular employee horrible, nasty and unhelpful. I can but again apologise and I am truly surprised as this particular employee gets many good reports on how lovely they are, however on this occasion your have not experienced their usually high standard of service. Peter, I cannot apologise enough and we do not like people leaving us without having a good experience not only in the hostel but in Wellington. If ever you come to Wellington again and would like accommodation then please contact me direct and I will be more than happy to help accommodate you.
