Edinburgh

The Scottish city of Edinburgh is already a popular choice for those looking for a beautiful and interesting stay in Scotland. However, Edinburgh is also regarded as a very scary city with lots of haunted places. There are so many myths and spooky legends surrounding many of the city’s attractions, so much so that there are many ‘Ghost Tours’ on offer in this scary city.  These ‘Ghost Tours’ are walking tours of some of Edinburgh’s most haunted locations offering spooky insights into the city’s past through underground vaults and ancient landmarks. The underground vaults of the city, along with Edinburgh Castle are regarded as two of the cities, and Scotland’s, most haunted places. Prague

Prague is another scary city that offers some walking ‘Ghost Tours’ of its haunted attractions. This popular city in the Czech Republic is the perfect place for some haunting weekends. Some scary stuff on offer includes evening tours under the cover of darkness to tourists looking for that ghostly sighting or just wanting to experience the somewhat spooky history of Prague.  These tours focus on Prague’s most haunted area of the Old Town. You will wander through the streets and narrow alleyways learning all about the mythical and ghostly beings that are said to haunt the city. The Old Town is thought to date back to the 11th century and has many ancient churches and buildings in the location.

Savannah

Not many people would imagine that the city often regarded as the spookiest in America would be the charming Southern Georgian town of Savannah. However, behind its historical and charming facade, Savannah hides a dark and spooky past that draws many people to the area and its most haunted places. From haunted homes and cemeteries, to spooky sightings under the cover of darkness, this Georgia town has a whole host of myths, legends and haunted places in its history. Savannah has a long history of bloodshed and violence that dates from the Revolutionary and Civil War days.  And it is also thought that many of the historic sections of Savannah were built over old cemeteries.

London

The popular capital of London may come as no surprise as a spooky location due to its vivid history and the many legends that surround its top attractions. The Tower of London is probably the most notable haunted attraction in London. The Tower dates from the 11th century and is regarded as one of the most haunted attractions in London. The streets of London are often suspect to many ghostly sightings and strange sensations, many of which people associate with Jack the Ripper. There are also plenty of ghost tours on offer in the area that are led by guides who have studied the topic of haunted London and have testimonies from locals through the ages.

Bucharest

The Romanian city of Bucharest is an ideal city base for your scary trip to the many renowned haunted locations in the country of Romania. Perhaps most famous for the legend of Dracula and its historical basis Vlad the Impaler, Romania, and more specifically Transylvania have been a popular choice for those after a more authentic experience from a spooky location. Not surprisingly there are plenty of Dracula-themed tours around the area that run throughout the year. However, for the ultimate scare, they suggest you take these tours around Halloween week as it only heightens the spookiness. Places not to be missed on your Dracula hunt around Romania include the grave of Vlad, Poienari Castle - the real Dracula's castle, and Bran Castle – the location of Bram Stoker novel's castle.

Venice

Probably the last place you would associate with spooky tales and haunted locations is the romantic city of Venice. However, there is a darker side to this popular European city. The Venice that only the locals know about is one associated with dark alleyways and mysterious streets that many will shy away from once the sun has set. Rumours of getting caught in time loops and ghostly figures that frequent certain buildings are just a taste of the spooky happenings in Venice. There is also talk of places with scary myths attached to them such as The Island of No Return and Poyeglia that Venetian people will barely even speak of, never mind visit.

Brisbane

Queensland’s creepy capital Brisbane is a city steeped in spooky stories and haunted locations. Again, the area makes the most of its spooky happenings with many tours of the city’s most haunted spots. There are many ghosts and ghouls rumoured to occupy the city of Brisbane, particularly in prominent buildings such as the Old Government House, the Parliament House, the Brisbane Arcade and the City Hall. The cemeteries of the area are also highly noted for their paranormal activity.
