Things to do in Pisa for free

Duomo di Pisa
Head to Duomo di Pisa, the city's main cathedral, on aSunday morning for mass and you'll be able to see the stunning interior forfree. It's also free to enter the cathedral every day from November until theend of February. As you walk inside, you'll be struck by the smell of incense andwhen you look around you'll see stained glass, religious paintings and anintricately decorated ceiling. Open daily Nov-Feb 10am-12.45pm &2pm-5pm, Mar 10am-6pm, Apr-Sept 10am-8pm, Pct 10am-7pm; admission free onSunday mornings during mass and daily from Nov-Feb.
Giardino Scotto Park
Outdoor concerts and movie nights are often held inthis popular park, which is housed inside the converted fortress of Cittadella Nuova. Alongwith colourful flowerbeds, tall trees and some cool grassy areas, the park hasits own playground. In this area you'll some across awesome mini-trampolines,which can be used by both big and little kids. Open dailyNov-Jan 9.30am-4.30pm, Feb-Mar & Oct 9am-6pm, Apr 9am-7pm, May-Jun &Sept 9am-8pm, Jul-Aug 8am-8pm; admission free.
Piazza Martiri delle Liberta
Once you've visited Piazza del Duomo and seen all thatit has to offer why not check out this open square close by. It's frequented bylocals who sit around while they eat their lunch or have a chat. Surrounded bytall trees, there are lots of cool shaded areas as well as a number of bencheswhere you can sit and take a breather.
La Cittadella
As you stroll around alongside Pisa's citadel, you'llnot only get to see this old fortress up close but you'll also get great viewsalong the Arno River. The citadel was originally built in the early 15thcentury but parts had to be rebuilt after it sustained damage during WWII.
Free water at Pisa's drinkingfountains
It can get pretty hotin Pisa, so you'll need to keep hydrated if you want to get the best out ofyour trip to the city. It can get pretty expensive if you have to continuallybuy bottled water so why not save some money by taking advantage of one of thecity's drinking fountains. There's a popular one in Piazza del Duomo andvarious others scattered around the city where you can refill your water bottlefor free.
