Base St Kilda in Eshowe, Australia

Base is a good hostel for people looking for a party....but if you're after a decent night's sleep, choose somewhere else.There were no noise restrictions, and we were awakened several times throughout the night by people yelling and singing in the hall.From the second floor room, we could clearly hear the music from the bar.Also, the room smelled like gym socks, the carpets were matted, and the walls were covered in mildew. the club downstairs is lots of fun and plenty of $5 meals everyday it's so easy to get around st.kilda and melbourne with the tram right outside the beach is 5 minutes away! i would definitely stay there again Ashley, from Canada ~ 13th Dec 2011

It is a party hostel and thus a great place to meet people at the bar lounge, which is very cool by th. Staff is very helpful. Highly automated place, from card-swiping doors, to candy and drink machines, washing machine, dryer, ATMs, which is a big plus. Location is great as well, next to a wide range of restaurants, stores, and transportation. Although it was not a big deal for me (I sleep like a rock), for those sensitive to noise, you might find it a bit noisy at times. Wifi is paid BRUCE, from Brazil ~ 1st Sep 2011
