We stayed in the Colonia House three times over our stay in Ecuador as we were coming and going from Quito. It's a lovely hostel and the staff are really friendly and helpful. The rooms were all good - the road on the front can be noisy so request a room in the back if you want to be sure of a quiet nights sleep. The breakfast is great and healthy. Location is a bit out of the center but taxis are $2-$3 to either the old town or La Marisceal. Only needed at nighttime. Maeve, from Ireland ~ 12th Oct 2012

Good cheap hostal near historic sights of Quito. Cost only $20 for double room with bathroom - half what it says here on hostels.com. Electric showers give very low pressure hot water - for higher pressure you get colder water. Good breakfast for $3.50 extra. Claire, from England ~ 2nd Jul 2011
