Flying Pig Uptown in Beijing, Alankomaat

It was very clean and lively, and for that I really liked it, BUT for being so expensive I expected a little more. The main problem was the damn key cards. I had a room on the 4th floor, 5 flights of stairs from reception. I would climb all the way up those steep stairs, try and make my key card work for 20 minutes, climb all the way down, change my card, and climb ALL the way up again.It was exhausting. Stayed for just a night.But found everything to be more than my expectations 8/10.Free breakfast, bread,juice,tea/coffee,cereals,boiled eggs - decent stuff.Free wifi that worked.Can also lend netbook for a 1Eur.The staff, especially Michelle was helpful and provided some useful tips.The hostel is right next to the Rijks musuem, Liedesplien,Spui.Beware that Bus 197 for Schipol just outside hostel does not stop if its 2 crowded inside the bus.Safer 2 go to Central n take the train to Schipol. I had a great time at Flying Pig Uptown. Right next to the beautiful Vondelpark, with downtown only a short 10 minute walk away (don't count on taking busses around town unless you get a bus pass, each ride is 2.70. Day passes are 7.00) The bar downstairs has good specials on drinks, and there are coffeeshops very close by! Breakfast in the morning is light: bread, jam, juice, coffee. The showers and toilets are a bit small. Bring a lock! They have tiny ones for sale for 3 euro if you forget.

I honestly didn't expect much when I booked my place in an 8 bed dorm for 9 Euro. But when I arrived I was positively surprised. The hostel was very clean and the staff pretty friendly and also the dorm was big and had a nice look! Since I arrived pretty early I even could eat some breakfast there which is served from 8 a.m until 11 a.m. They had quite some different things to offer and I have to say that the rooms, sheets, toilets, etc. were very clean! I'd definitely go back!
