Central location but entry in a crowded shopping area with crowded lifts is not the most desirable entry.
We were there 2 nights and should have had clean towels daily but did not.
Ensuite facilities excellent. staff helpful and looked after our baggage on the last day while we went out and collected it later.

reception was meant to be 24hrs but it was closed at 2am when i arrived, even though i told them i will arrive then. spoke to owner but he was sleeping, and wouldnt let me in, so i had to book another hostel. POOR

Although this hostel is very clean, safe, secure and extremely well positioned it differs a lot from what you get shown in the pictures. My white tiled windowless "cell" was not quite what i was expecting, and although i got used to it and even ended up liking it, i was also finding it frustrating that i knew the Salisbury YMCA round the corner has the best dorms ive ever stayed in and i only picked this hostel for the common room (which they seem to have taken off their blurb since i booked). The website is a bit misleading. After reading the comment about NOT going with other people who claim to be from Garden Hostel, we were met outside the door of the reception room on the 16th floor and taken to a different floor (with a different hostel name) to check in. I was bewildered and it was explained that sometimes they do this when the other hostel is full. I was worried about being scammed as the website clearly stated that they only have ONE reception area. Anyhow, it turned out OK.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay in the Kungking Mansion. The area has lots to do but shady peddlers and street talkers are everywhere. Also the pictures shown for our two bed suite with private bath, was very misleading.

The check-in was a bit confusing. I was pre-warned to ignore touts taking people to other hostels, but then taken by Joe Chen to the Carlton Guesthouse downstairs from the Garden Hostel. I wasn't sure if I had been duped, but figured out eventually after grilling the front desk guy that it was legit. Otherwise, the place was clean, safe, and convenient.
