We were very disappointed with Hotel Dorothy.We decided to book Hotel dorothy because they had relatively good reviews on Hostels.com.I'm not sure how old those reviews are but we booked Hotel Dorothy for 3 nights and we ended up only staying for 1.Upon arrival we had booked a room for 5 and we asked if we could change it to a room for 3. They helped us right away find a different room although the room was very stuffy and not clean at all.The cold water in the shower smelled like sewage water. Verbatim, from Vietnam ~ 3rd Jun 2012

Had a single and it was a good price. I also was on the side of the building with a great view of Arenal outside my window. Decent people, but like a lot of places in C.R. if you're not booking excursions through them, the staff could really care less about you. They were in the process of revamping some of the rooms. Booking tours from the hostel was very convenient and a few dollars cheaper than the same tours in town.The hostel is a very short walk from the bus station and from all the restaurants/markets of La Fortuna.The upstairs patio has a great view of the volcano!
