The security is non-existent! A known drug addict comes to the hostel at 2 pm, tells the reception he`s been fighting with his girl and need a bed. He has no money and will pay later. That is obviously ok ("he has slept here before and never caused a problem") and he gets a key. To my dorm. The guy walks into the room (I am sleeping), sees my tablet and Iphone on the table beside the bed, decides he is not that tired and walks away with my stuff. Staffs were very nice but I was attacked by a bunch of bedbugs... I noticed after check out so that I couldn't tell it to any of the staffs. The lack of individual blanket covers may be the reason. Sodam, from South Korea ~ 8th Jan 2013

I did not have a pleasant experience at this hostel. The bathrooms were small and kinda dark. There was no place to put your clothes when taking shower. When I was taking shower, a drunk guy peeked through the top of the wall which separated each shower room. It was so CREEPY! He later constantly asked to do a "massage" for me. I later reported him to the staff, but they did not do much. Later he also harassed my friend by trying to sell drugs to him. I would not choose this hostel again. Chenyu, from China ~ 3rd Jan 2013

Our family of 4 stayed at Itaca Red in the Gothic area of Barcelona.It was the perfect location to explore this very cool part of the city.The staff was very helpful, the accomodations were clean & neat, and our apartment mates were courteous.I'd recommend this spot to anyone looking for accomodations in the Gothic area of Barcelona. We ended up in a little flat about a block away and it was perfect!There were 4 bedroom (that locked!) plus a shared kitchen.Breakfast was self serve in the kitchen every morning.We were right off Las Ramblas which was very close to everything.We walked down to the beaches and even back from Sagrada Familia which wasn't too far.Overall this was a really nice place to stay!I can't speak for any of the rooms at the actual hostel, but the flats they have a really nice.
