The hostel is old and run down. The rooms and toilets are not clean, not even close. Mold and bedbugs were experienced by some of the guests. The atmosphere is very poor, and badly influenced by the large number of permenent residents living there. Many of them sat in the common area getting hevely drunk and smoking weed from noon til late in the night. The reception was closed many hours eatch day.And there were no lockers availeble to protect valueble items. Wifi didn't work. rikke, from Denmark ~ 14th May 2012

I stayed at the Marquette House during Mardi Gras, and I think it was a very good value for my money. Just a block away from St. Chrales Avenue, where the parades take place and a half an hour walk away from downtown and the French Quarter (there ir also public transportation available when there are no holidays goign on). Other thing I liked about the location is that is in the Gardens District, where you can see the big french mansions of the 1800's just a few steps away. DANIEL, from Mexico ~ 27th Feb 2012

BED BUGS EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!! Bed bug ridden, dirty, and run down house. I could not sleep and my feet were severely bitten by bed bugs. When i ask guy from reception to come over to my room to see dozen of bed bugs hiding in corner of mattresses , he said it must be a mosquitoes and he did not have time to go to my room.
