Awesome place in a lovely old house.Really close to the supermarket and tube which was great.The lockable drawers under the bed were excellent.An extra hand basin in the bathroom would have been helpful, so you don't have to wait for a toilet to come free if you just wanted to brush your teeth.A couple more plugs in the room would have been helpful as well, as we had to unplug our bed light if we wanted to use the plug. I had a lovely stay at Palmer's Lodge! The staff was friendly and helpful, the bathrooms were CLEAN and the free breakfast was just delightful. Clean, safe, affordable, and a short Tube ride from downtown London, this was the perfect choice for me. The front desk staff was remarkably friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. (Note: if you're claustrophobic the bunks in the large dorm rooms may be problematic, as they offer little headroom and may feel coffin-like I found that keeping the curtains open helped, but I am only mildly so afflicted. Most staff are rude, except for Hayda who was always courteous and professional.The bath areas are nice and clean, but there are bed bugs in the basement rooms, several women showed me the bites and they were washing their clothes all night so I didn't sleep from the noise. The music at the reservation desk was loud and not condusive to the charm of the hostel... nor was it neutral (something anyone can appreciate). This place does not deserve for such high rate, definitely !!! They changed my reservation without any information !!! I booked double Bed with Private Ensuite but they gave me some kind of cell without anything , just one bed thats all , no bathroom , no table , just bed and floor !!!. internet very slow keep cutting off. but use the one in the lobby. the nightmanager was really great i came at 5am in the morning and i actually forgot to tell the hostel i will be late but he sorted it out. forgot his name but i check in on 20th of feb. J C, from Belgium ~ 27th Feb 2012
