This is catagorically the worst Hostel I have stayed in. Ever.
The staff are rude, bedrooms like saunas and sheets/towels filfthy.
That aside, it's well located for town and the beach. Although, being next to a mainline railway station, noisy when the 3am train wakes you up daily by sounding it's horn for 27 minutes.
Avoid.

We arrived 45 minutes after closing time. The delay was caused by a Greyhound bus that broke down. We made a phone call, to inform them. Nevertheless they didn't accepted a late check in and we where very pissed off at the german guy behind the reception who was still there. After 20 minutes sitting in front of the door he let us in. And made us apologize for being rude and unkind to him. When we finally got to our beds they didn't had sheets. Breakfest wasn't much either. The worst hostel so f

I can't rate anything as good, because even though called 48 hrs. before and the day of to confirm, my room was still given away. And I didn't receive any notice until I was already sitting in the lobby, talking to two other people who had the same problem. Very Frustrating!

Drunken and disrespectful member of staff - unable to control noise levels and actions of guests. The staff staff member was contributing to the disturbance, and I personally had to ask on numerous occasions for them to move away from our dorm door and to stop the noise. It was clear that the staff member did not remember in the morning.
We were very annoyed and unimpressed because we had a six hour drive to begin early the next day.
We waited 3+ hours into the night for sheets on arrival

This hostel was close to the beach and only about a ten min walk from State Street which has all the bars and shops which is really good. However it was quite quiet and the internet machines were a bit dodgy and ate your money. In the female bathrooms most of the toilets only had a shower curtain as a door. However Santa Barbara is a really good place to visit and would def recommend going!

I was over charged but couldn't get a refund. Staff didn't seem to under stand English very well
VEry overpriced Motel 6 was cheaper.
Rooms were nothing like on line photo.

It was difficult that the kitchen and check out didn't open until 8:30 a.m. People lost their $20 key deposit because they couldn't wait for the desk to open. I was very dissappointed to see that the hostel had many profanities on the walls. I saw at least two photos of animals having sex and in the men's bathroom a sign from an ad that used the word "Fuck" about 20 times. None of this is appropriate for a hostel. I was very displeased overall with this hostel.
