Probably the cheapest non-brothel place to stay that close to the French Quarter. The staff doesn't take anyone's sh t, but if you're nice to them they'll be nice to you! And honestly, who cares how clean the place is? You're in NOLA, you shouldn't be in the hostel complaining about its atmosphere or whatever, you should be out eating and drinking as much as your sad little stomach can handle and then returning to said hostel to fall asleep with your shoes on, get up, and do it all over again! Rude staff, horrible accommodations, Unless you are homeless, do not stay here.We bought disinfectant day one and used it daily.We bought a cooler for beer but used it as a bug protectant for snacks.Drunk people started yelling in the halls around 4:30 AM and the room next to us was overflowing the toilet so security had to yell at him to let them come in around 5 AM. the place was horrid, it felt like a cemetery. The staff looked like and acted like a bunch of criminals, such a rip off. I have booked a room way back in July and was sure that I do not need to pay anything additional, I had to pay 100 dollars more for this depressing place. the atmosphere was worse than it was described in Dickens. one of the residents I met there looked like a child molester, and he immediately started to make moves on me... was rather scary. The staff members were all great super friendly and helpful. The location was convenient. My complaints fall within the fact that the place is poorly maintained there are roaches everywhere and though there's a sign that states they were inspected for bedbugs, I still experienced something biting me in my sleep around my ankles. You definitely get what you pay for and it is not a bad place, but the "bad" are things that can be fixed and should be seeing that it is the 21st century. Timothy, from USA ~ 3rd Nov 2012
