I stayed for a night so really didn't get the opportunity to look around the hostel. The location is great, you can go to the Market street (sort of the main street) by foot. The kitchen though seems to be way too small for a place like this. I tried to wait in line to get waffles (you have to make them so it takes more time in the line) but finally gave up and went outside to look for something to eat.

Very nice. Werent by the the dorms, you could think you are in a hotel. Is not that as funny as many other hostels. its most interesting common area was a lounge that looked like a mix of home theater and small theater, with a dozen of very confortable seats. !! Will recomend for sure

This is actually a not bad hostel. It reminds me of a european hostel without a bar. That was the first time I stayed here. So when I came back to San Francisco, I came back to stay here. But they overbooked us and put us in the Hotel Mithila. The budget hotel doesn't have internet, common rooms, or kitchen. We wanted a hostel experience, not a crappy, hotel. The Amsterdam Hostel is a great place to stay. Just watch that you actually get your room and not get sent over to another place.
great hostel, more like a hotel. if your looking for somewere secure easygoing and a great place to meet people, this is the hostel!

These comments are actually about the hotel matilda (sp?) as we were moved there without our notification until the last second. we were incredibly disappointed and very skeptical about ever booking a hostel online again.
