On the edge of a seedy neighborhood, but you don't have to go through the bad area to get to it...there is a Hilton hotel right across the street. The place was clean, cute decorations, and the staff was nice.

very nice personal :) they gave me alot tips to see in san francisco. i really enjoyed to stay there
well the location is great and the staff is friendly when we saw them which wasn't much. the rooms lacked chairs and anywhere to put clothes but they did have sinks. the kitchen is nice (has separate meat and veggie fridge) and only lacks a microwave. problems are that there's only two showers (one of which can only be accessed from the kitchen) and two toilets for the entire 15 room hostel.
