I stayed at Villa Stella with my parents on our family vacation to Italy. If you don't mind taking the extra time to get to the tourist sights of Venice, then this is a great place to stay. The boats go to Lido around the clock and it takes about 30 minutes to get to the attractions of Venice. Lido is more green with more trees and gardens than the old Venice and so it's a nice change from wondering the narrow stone-paved streets of Venice. Villa Stella staff are very helpful and speak English very well. Breakfasts were great. Room was clean, fairly spacious with a nice garden view. The attention to detail was much appreciated.

The only disadvantage we found is that the hostel does not have an elevator and our room was at the 3rd floor!! Apart from that, everything was ok and the breakfast at the garden was excellent!!

We loved Villa Stella...It's a bit more expensive than most hostels, but we found it worth it — the rooms are adorable and quite comfortable, and the included breakfast is AMAZING. Downside: it's a bit of a distance from the city center of Venice — it's on the nearby island of Lido, which is serviced by many of the water buses...but public transportation in Venice is reliable but slow, so getting back and forth can be frustrating, especially at night. That being said, Lido is really pretty, and I would definitely choose to stay here again, and for longer. We had a great experience.
