International Budget Hostel is beautifully situated in the heart of the city centre in the Leidseplein (Leidse Square) area. Leidseplein is the most famous nightlife area in Amsterdam. The location of the hostel is on a quiet, beautiful canal - the Leidsegracht.
Rooms are shared mixed from triples and quads to five- and six-person rooms. Each hallway has showers and WCs.
Our hostel, set in a former 17th-century warehouse, has a cosy lounge facing the canal where one can relax and socialize and meet other fellow travellers. Breakfast is not included in the room price but is available in the lounge between 9am and 12 noon. The lounge has vending machines, a television, an internet station and a public phone. Free Wi-Fi is available in the entire hostel. We are placed in a old monumental building with no elevators, just steep stairs.
We also have a house cat (which does no harm at all) who just stays in our lounge area and does not come in the rooms.
The hostel is a few minutes from the famous Van Gogh Museum, beautiful Dam Square, the entertaining Red light district, relaxing Vondelpark, historical Anne Frank House and the best clubs, coffee shops, bars and restaurants and many more great places.
The staff can provide you with great ideas to spend your time in Amsterdam. If you're interested in renting a bike we're happy to organise this for you.
Due to the new non-smoking law which is introduced since July 1st 2008, smoking is not permitted in the hostel. The entire hostel has smoke detectors. There is video security in all public areas.
We are pleased to announce our new indoor smoking room, where you can chill out, socialize, and smoke in comfort looking out over Amsterdam's beautiful canals. The rest of the hostel remains smoke free

Our hostel overlooks the canal and is ideal for backpackers, students and young people.
We have four single beds in the four-person mixed rooms with shared facilities, with backpack-sized lockers for each bed. Showers and toilets can be found on each floor.
Breakfast is served in our canteen from 9am till noon. An Internet station is available at the reception area. We also have Wi-Fi. The lounge has vending machines, TV and a pay phone.
We also offer bicycles for rent.
Please note that we do not accept guests under 5 years of age.

I arrived at 2.45am and couldn' get in to the Hostel, i had booked a Hostel that had a 24hr booking in facility as i was arriving late. I rang the bell for 20 minutes no one answered the door. As a result i had to pay 75 euro for a really bad hotel across the road. I went in to complain the next day i rang the ball once in the morning they let me in and i explained what happened they said i needed to speak with a manager no one was available, i tried by email, i'm still awaiting the reply. The hostel was very comfortable and about what we were expecting. The prices were very high for the value on the weekends but this wasn't a surprise as Everywhere else in the city was just as expensive if not more. The staff was friendly enough, no complaints and the rooms were cozy and comfortable. The location was FANTASTIC for what we did, it is just down the street from Leidseplein and just a short walk to the park and museums. Only complaint (small one) Really loud doors in the rooms.
