Our beachfront, off-the-grid lodge is situated along a secluded stretch of long, empty coastline on the island of Los Brasiles, close to the historic city of Leon, in Nicaragua's North Pacific coast.
The Surfing Turtle Lodge offers its guests the opportunity to completely escape reality, the hustle and bustle of the city, and to refresh in an isolated island setting. The lodge strikes the perfect balance for everyone -- you can chill out while enjoying the island's natural beauty or surf, play beach volleyball, sit at our 'Swing Bar,' lounge for a few cocktails and have a wild time. This is what a vacation is meant to be -- sun, sand, bonfires, total relaxation -- either on your own or with like-minded travelers who have also ventured outside the tourist trail to find paradise.
A big part of the lodge is our turtle hatchery, created as part of our dedication to protect sea turtles and help their population grow. We offer guests the opportunity to go on a nighttime turtle walk to witness the magical experience of sea turtles laying their eggs. We then save the eggs to ensure they will not be taken by turtle poachers through burying them in our onsite hatchery. The first hatching of the season is expected in mid-October and will continue until February.
We offer a variety of affordable accommodation options -- from private beachfront cabanas with en-suite washrooms, a front terrace and hammock, to private rooms, a large shared dorm room and even camping. All options come with beautiful ocean views.
