plenty of character in this old hotel, but it´s showing its age in the state of some of the fittings. Location right in the centre is great.

Staff were pretty friendly. Free "breakfast" (make your own waffle). Free internet access, though you might have to queue a while. They showed a movie one night in a communal area.
Disadvantage: the location is on the edge of the Tenderloin, which is a really dodgy area, lots of homeless and drug dealing. You may end up walking at least around the edges of the neighbourhood as you're heading to the hostel from the west or south.

It was a nice stay in this well located hostel. The free waffles in the morning are a good way to make friends among the travelers-by-themselves (I was one of them)or even the groups.

I had a great time. i liked especially the little thoughtful extras the hostel offered. waffels in the morning, free internet and the stuff was always friendly and very helpful. it was a good choice!!
