We were really impressed with our stay in Base, Christchurch. It had everything you could need and the staff were very friendly and helpful, would definitely stay at another Base, hope they are all as good.

Thank you for your comments and I’ve checked the room you stayed in (403) and the heater works fine? The heater controls are by the door in every room and if required we have extra fan heaters or hot water bottles available from reception (we only ask for a refundable deposit).

Thanks for taking the time to comment on the Christchurch property. Without specifics it is a little difficult to comment on exactly what you found wrong with the hostel. We do hold a 4star+ rating with Qualmark which is the NZ accepted quality assurance system. This is as high as any other hostel in Christchurch and covers every aspect of the business from customer service to the facilities offered at base. I am totally confident we offer as good as if not the best facilities in Christchurch. We offer fully made beds, individual lockers, 6’’ spring mattresses (not those horrible foam things!) 24 hour reception, in house bar, continental breakfasts for only $9 (all you can eat!) global gossip high speed internet, wireless, travel shop, free outdoor BBQ’s and of course the best location in town, brilliant well trained staff etc etc.

there are building works on at the moment so if you have had a large one don't expect too much kip at the place . Right next to the cathedral so the bells the bells on a sunday morning as well !! staff were helpful but and they tried hard to keep the place clean and the bar is quite cheap . A fair place to stay but as Christchurch isn't the biggest you can stay elsewhere and still take everything in easily

I agree the noise and vibrations last week were not pleasant at all but thankfully now all the pile driving and assosiated noise and vibration has been completed so we have been told that we are over the noisiest part of the construction. Being a large building we put every one we can on the far side and we don't seem to be having any problems now. Glad to see the guys at reception looked after you!
