Very good value for the international traveller on a budget. Secure, clean and very helpful friendly staff with excellent local knowledge. The area shows a side of New York that maybe wouldn't normally be seen - very artistic and culturally rich. Only slight problem - lots of stairs although staff were happy to help with luggage. Hostel is great! Very clean rooms, security is on the highest level, rooms are very big. The area is very, very safe. The owner, Santos, is a great man, very helpful. Of all the hostels i've stayed in this one is the worst by far. Really upset. The Doors are totally problematic, it can take up to 15 minutes just to get the door to let you in.... Also the water can get so hot that you can get cooked standing in it. there is no common room to socialise and meet new people,and wifi is really bad. Stayed in a mixed dorm. not sure how well the private rooms are. Also beware about leaving your electronics in the room... Ok cheap, but thats pretty much it! Location fine.. but not at all clean. Toilets very bad, easy to hear nextdoor. Not easy to get in touch with the owner since hes not up early or late and dont leave a number ...! Beware - they charge 6% city tax on top of hostel booking price... It's ok if you usually go to hostels and this kind of places. If you only like 3star hostels or more, look for another place. The best thing is its location, very close to central park and to a subway station from which you could go everywhere. Rooms are big enough but wc and shower are small and shared. In any case, if you go to NYC the last thing you will regard to is the place you stay in. The city is all amazing so don't worry and go there nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!
