The shower in room 306 wasn't working, but I wasn't sure - maybe its not suppose to work?Either fix it or put up a sign?It was very nice to have a semi-private toliet and sink.Also, I don't think they need to have the steam radiators run so late into the night.They could probably shut them off a half -hour sooner and the place would have be just as warm. Pro's: Great location, two blocks from the BART.Clean, decent free tea / coffee / breakfast, staff (except the one who checked me in - a bit too cool for school) were all really friendly. Cons: Wi-fi was constantly dropping out, not working for a while, etc and the hard line computers are pay-per-use.No hot water for a shower when I got there at 9pm. We stayed here for two nights in January 2012. The hostel is located in Downtown San Francisco, which is near to the Tenderloin area, which most people advise to stay away from at night, although we found it to be fairly safe and had no problems. It is within walking distance of Union Square and local bars/restaurants. The facilities were all fine, common area was a bit tired but the kitchen was great. We stayed in a private room with bathroom. The room was nicely maintained and cleaned daily Laura, from England ~ 11th Jan 2012

We really enjoyed our stay.The staff were super friendly and went out of their way to answer questions and give directions. If I were queen of the world, I would change: Room cooling options. The room was quite stuffy and warm.The only ventilation option was opening the window, which opened to a portion of the roof giving access to other windows. All in all a pleasant experience. Staff at the front desk very good about making sure only those holding valid passes were allowed upstairs thus ensuring patrons' safety. Aside fr street traffic this was a relatively quiet hostel. No bar or restaurant/snack bar facilities but there's a full kitchen w/ several stoves/toasters/fridges for use. Some activities but was more of a restful place than a happening one. Audible music and hanging out in hallways discouraged that was a bit of a downer : ( Cara, from Canada ~ 4th Jan 2012
