This place was great. The staff were amazing. The helped me plan my trip to Tiger Leaping Gorge. They called a local bus to pick me up, got me the ticket to get to Qiao Tou, arranged accommodations at Halfway House and Tina's and got me back to K2. They helped me to see the great attractions around town and when to see them so the crowds were not so bad. They were quick to have a room ready and were up early and stayed up late. Very nice and beautiful place, not in "the" old town though. Lijiang actually has three old towns and this hostel is located in the middle sized one north of the city. Not as crowded and touristic as the bigger one. By bike or bus 15 minutes to the old town. Martha, from Germany ~ 19th Apr 2009

This hostel is ideally located for exploring in and around Lijiang. Situated in Shuhe old town, the chaos of the city center and proper old town are left behind for true peace and serenity just to the north. The staff was extremely helpful and welcoming throughout my entire stay. The accommodations were clean and well-run. Definitely consider staying here should you be interested in visiting beautiful Lijiang and the facinating sights around Yulong Mountain. Steven, from USA ~ 22nd Feb 2009

K2 is a great hostel. It has a private courtyard where you can relax, and have some tea or coffee. You can play ping pong, pool, and badmiton. They also have guitars available for the guests to play. The owner of K2 is a mountaineer who has extensive knowledge of trails in the area. Much of the staff can speak English and even those who can not will go out of their way to help you with whatever it is you need. Shuhe old town is a town about 4 KM from the center of Lijiang.
