I don't reccomend this hostel - only if you need a place to sleep for a night. Bathroom was awful: smelly toilet, water from shower flooding all the bathroom, sink moving and leaking water all over the floor... Squeeky hard matraces, windows leaking water a lot during the harder rain, no cleaning room or bathroom for 3 days, walls full of smashed mosquitos... Highly overpriced. Good things are location, organized trips, ok staff and hostel's restaurant. Read Owner Comments Marina, from Croatia ~ 4th Aug 2009

Overall, staying at Leo Hostel was a good experience. They offer several fun tour packages. I really recommend the "Secret Wall" tour. You're really up there all by yourselves--no other tourists! The security is a bit lax, because you can easily access your room from a Hutong alley without seeing a single person. Also, make sure to check the supermarket (two doors away) before purchasing snacks in the bar. It's a lot cheaper! Matthew, from USA ~ 12th Jul 2009

Very good hostel to meet people. Helpful and friendly staff, but some won't help you if you want to go to the Great Wall by yourself, they just want you to book their high priced tour. I didn't like the fact that there's a big TV in the common room. The constant high volume isn't good to talk with other people. Philippe, from Canada ~ 6th Jul 2009

Not a good place. Lots of big mosquitos. Big road works going to the hostel making it dangerous for tourists going there. Rooms not clean. Air con not functioning well. Niceforo, from Philippines ~ 1st Jul 2009

Very nice staff, great location, the cafe/lounge area is dominated by a giant TV which goes all day and most of the night, so it's hard to meet people. They overcharged us on a tour we booked through them, but it happens everywhere. Inefficient management systems make for the occasional frustration, but that's China. I would highly recommend Leo hostel due to the super friendly staff, situated in literally the cheapest street in Beijing where across the road you can eat a superb authentic Chinese dinner for two complete with two large bottles of tsingtao beer for £3.60 or $4.00! the social room is great for meeting other travellers and comes complete with a massive plasma screen where you can choose from hundreds of music videos of mostly complete concerts which adds to the ambience of the place! samuel, from Northern Ireland ~ 4th Apr 2009
