This is the fifth or sixth time I have stayed here.I know the location very well, it is convenient for transportation, and the double rooms are reasonably priced and very spacious. The food in the cafe is overpriced and, apart from the first time I stayed here, the atmosphere is less lively than in other hostels. But, I can definitely recommend it. My shared single was more like a cell. Quite small,no outside window and very little light. Bed was comfortable. michael, from USA ~ 27th Nov 2011

The rooms are ok, nothing wrong with them. But the real nice feature of this hostel is the downstairs cafe and terras. They have a pool table, couches and tables. They serve drinks and food but they usually let you bring in your own (much) cheaper beer from the shop next door. All in all, this a really friendly place to sit down and meet other travelers of all ages. It's a lot of fun without being overly loud. Laura, from Netherlands ~ 28th Nov 2011

This hostel is really excellent and I totally recommend it!I had a private room, which was clean, quiet and secure - it also had Wifi. The downstairs cafe also serves reliable cheap meals, and the coffee is good. The location is about 10 minutes walk from the north end of the Bund, and the same from Lines 2 & 7 of the Metro.Totally recommend this place - do not stay at the Ya'an rd Captain Youth Hostel which pales in comparison. This is the best hostel I've ever stayed in and that includes hostels in Europe and China.Clean with beautiful rooms and furnishings, good staff and a great communal area downstairs with a bar/cafe area and free pool.My favourite thing about Shanghai was this hostel.Perfect!
