This place is the best! The owner is extremely friendly and eager to help. They have all the facilities you could ask for, and the location is amazing- right next to plaza mayor and a metro station.

Very good location but our private room was not as expected : shower was out of order and the doublebed was hard to access (2-meter high !).
Anyway, that was enough for a week-end in Madrid !

Very Clean hostel. Good that we can stay in a typical buildings in Madid like that Residencia Alvaro located in. Nice staff and and I just have some home feeling (welcoming) (with fringe, washing machine, kitchen). Happy that we can leave our luggage till very late time for our last day to travel in Madrid. We can use wi-fi or intenet with no problem. Little draw back is that the staff is not good at English. Luckily we have a bit survial Spanish for communication.

Hotel is in excellent location. Just a block away from Tirso de Molina metro which connects to Sol and other major stops. Staff consisted of one person who lives in the hotel. Person not always there so make sure to call ahead to say when you'll be arriving. Hotel had a kitchen which guests could use at no extra fee. There was a communal refrigerator to put in any groceries. There was a washer that we could use for 3 euros. Very quiet place, more for the older, mature tourist. If you're a group

I went there at the end of April and arrived at night time. Walking up the stairs, I thought I was about to find the shabbiest place ever and I was scared. But it turns out the building is under construction (thus the questionable appearance). But don't worry, it's lovely inside.

This place is in a great location--very close to the metro and walking distance to Plaza Mayor and the city center. It´s also close to cheap restaurants and a grocery store. The owner hardly knows English but we were able to communicate with her with our limited Spanish. The room was clean and so were the bathrooms. There are no locker since you have a key to your room. The kitchen has supplies for your use. There is a washing machine in the kitchen that you can use for 3 Euro, which we did. Do

The workmanships at the entry can give, at the first sight, an bad impression of residence, but when we enter inside of the residence, we perceive that after all this is not like we think...
I enjoyed very much my stay in the Residência Alvaro, it was almost as i was in my house. The residence is very comfortable, clean and very well situated. The staff are very kind and helpful.. my congratulations. Who come the Madrid, I high recommend this residence to stay..

We were just a few days in Madrid as a couple; we stayed in the hostal Alvaro. Very clean, good bed, perfect location in center of the city, near a LIDL supermarket, near a Metro station. Friendly staf. Free internet. Perfect hostal for couples.
