Maybe the best hostel I've ever stayed in : very friendly and helpful staff, great atmosphere, clean rooms and bathrooms. I would definitely go back there! Anaelle, from France ~ 15th Aug 2011

A wonderfull hostel. After being away for 5 months, coming back here truly felt like coming home. The atmosphere is great, the staff very friendly, the beds hard but actually very comfortable and the food and beer taste good (though the food can take some time to get there, once you know this you just take it into account when ordering so it isn't a real bother). Sitting in the lounge area at evenings with a beer and lots of different people to talk to who all feel the same way tops it off. Read Owner Comments Richard, from Netherlands ~ 28th Jan 2012

The Chinamen desperately need to learn how to make bathrooms. I'm not talking about the hole-in-the-ground variant that's all right, and we had western water closets in our rooms anyway. I'm talking about the bathroom itself. The door (balcony-type door, very original) was not waterproof, so water always leaked out of the bathroom when showering the floor was not slanted in any particular way, so the water had no inclination to actually run down the drain the lamp armature consisted of a bare Read Owner Comments Charles Benjamin, from Sweden ~ 17th Nov 2011

An old building located deep in one alley, making it very hard to find. Some restaurants nearby. Not a close walk to metro station. Small room with dirty walls(mosquito/bug blood stains). Weak Wi-fi signal on ground floor. No elevator.Semi-dark hallways and staircases. A bit overpriced for this shabby place. Will not return. Read Owner Comments Dac, from USA ~ 27th Nov 2011

Sanlitun Youth hostel is an extremely nice and joyful place where to spend your stay in Beijing. The atmosphere is really warm and the staff is excellent, they are able to provide you with any information and help. They also organize events (hot pot, dumplings party...) to create a friendly atmosphere. You can find international tasty food in a clean cafeteria. Rooms are on a good-average level. We would greatly recommend this place! Caterina, from Italy ~ 8th Oct 2011

Not a bad hostel. The weekly make-your-own dumplings party is fun. The staff try to push the hostel's own restaurant, laundry service, tours, etc, rather than volunteering helpful info about alternatives. The shower curtain was loaded with mold, and the shower drain barely worked. The hostel isn't central in Beijing, but there are some good restaurants nearby, and the metro station is 10 minutes walk or less. Zeb, from USA ~ 13th Oct 2011
