This was a very nice hostel. The area wasn't the greatest but if you keep to yourself and don't bug the druggies and hookers they'll leave 'ya alone. The place was quiet and really clean. The staff was nice--the gentleman made a call to reserve a taxi for my departure at 5:30 AM and made sure that it was on time. Great place would definately recommend and will stay here again. Lucy M. Hi! I liked the Shamrock and will stay there again next time I go to Vancouver. Easy to get to, fairly quite, and the owners were very nice. Linen was provided. Lisa, from USA ~ 28th Jun 2009

Hello my name is Anthony, I stayed at the Shamrock hotel when a heat wave hit Vancouver and wow was it hot. The owners (live on property) brought a fan to my room without me even asking for one. They were extremely helpful, accommodating and thoughtful beyond anybody’s standard of goodwill. Firstly, I am a person with a severe back injury and had pre-booked a room with a single bed but instead they provided me a room with a double bed for no additional cost. I could not believe they would Anthony, from Canada ~ 11th Jun 2009

the owners were very friendly and helpful. the hostel is located in a dodgy area of town, you dont really feel safe going outside at night, however the bus stops are in close promixty so no need to walk down the street if you dont want too, or walking down w. pender st is ok. the place was rundown and could do with some maintanenance. ok if you want a cheap place to stay. This is a good hostel to stay in if you're on a tight budget, or if you don't want to pay too much for a room. There's a bit of a run down look on the inside, but everything was kept quite clean and smelling nice which was great. Be aware that the hostel is located in a very poor neighborhood. I stayed there a week and the first few days I had my guards up. However, after a few days you realize there isn't any danger if you mind your own business and do your own thing.
