From Cusco– Take a bus to Urubamba from the Puente Grau bus terminal (1.5 hrs). Once in Urubamba, catch the connecting combi to Ollantaytambo (30 min). If you prefer not switching buses, you can hire a private taxi at the same Puente Grau that will take you directly to the town. It is faster but a bit more expensive. Buses usually arrive in front of the Mercado Central (the main market), one block from the main square.

From the main square of Ollantaytambo– Take Ventiderio street (it’s the principal one) towards the Fortress, which is clearly visible on the mountain. Turn right just before the bridge and follow the river. You can either take a scenic cobbled pedestrian Patacalle street or a regular asphalt road (they merge in the end). NB: if you choose the asphalt road, the river will not always is going to be clearly in view, as it is sometimes obscured by the houses on its banks. Don’t panic and just follow the road; you will see the river again after about a block. Keep walking until you reach Janccarachaka bridge (+10 points to your Quechua skills if you can pronounce this!). The last building to the left will be Mama Simona hostel. The entire walk should not take you more than 15 minutes.

From the train station in Ollantaytambo– If arriving from Machu Picchu by train, you can take either a taxi/mototaxi or walk along Avenida Ferrocarril (the street that runs from the train station to the downtown) all the way to the bridge which leads to the ruins. Keep on walking in the same direction along the river, which will be to your left. NB: in some parts the river is obscured by the houses and reappears only after about a block. The last house on the left just before the bridge called Janccarachaka is Mama Simona Hostel. The entire walk is about 1.5 km and should take about 25 min.

Asking locals for directions– Many places in Peru have several names, so if people you ask do not seem to know where Misccanapama is, try Avenida Ocobamaba / camino a Huilloc (road to Huilloc). This should give better results!
