Au sujet de Sitting On The City Walls Courtyard House
Adresse: 57 NianZi HuTong, JingShanHouJie, DongCheng District, Beijing, China
Set within walking distance of the Forbidden City, our hostel is located in the heart of ancient Peking.
This is an exquisite traditional courtyard house; reparation and renovations have been carried out in full accordance with traditional tastes and modern standard.
In our hostel you can find red lanterns, Chinese knots, a 100m² comprehensive functional public hall, free wireless Internet access, clean guestrooms, air conditioning, heating and big washrooms that conform to the European and American standards.
Here one can get in touch with ancient wisdom, modern life and the contemporary civilization of Beijing in close-up.
We’re located within an ancient urban town area, which is perhaps the most authentic old town in Beijing. We say that it is authentic, because in front of the gate there is a zigzag alleyway which is completely different from many of the beautiful hutongs that are currently being partially remodelled for modern living. It still keeps its original feel dating decades back to the great old Peking. No modern transport vehicle can pass through; one can only walk or use a bicycle.
Only one minute’s walk from the gorgeous traditional alley of Beijing Major Street, it gives you the most genuine understanding and feelings of hutongs in Old Town Beijing: the retired elders, basking and chatting under the sunshine; birds, congregating under the gate tower, chirping; Pekinese, tied on the wire pole; rabbits, kept in the cages; and also an old Hutong public toilet, which was built 30 years ago.
Sitting On the City Walls – it’s classic, therefore it’s modern. Enjoy the unforgettable Beijing lifestyle!
We look forward to your presence.

This hotel has an excellent reputation and I can see why. Five of stayed for 4 nights over Chinese New Year and absolutely adored our stay. The hotel location close to the Forbidden City/BeiHai Lake is superb and the staff are very helpful with comfortable rooms. The owner Rick gave us a talk through the local area on arrival, gave us a map and advised on what to visit. We went on a tour to the Great wall at Mutianyu and that was a beautiful day out. Would stay again :D Robert, from England ~ 23rd Feb 2013

I loved staying here! Even though it was a bit of a walk from a metro station, the staff more than compensated with great day-by-day itineraries that included buses nearby. We were able to see everything without wasting a lot of time walking or trying to plan the best routes ourselves. The hostel itself was really nice and a cool way to experience China.
