Hotel and Youth Hostal Mayflower dans Puerto Escondido, Mexique

The Mayflower Hotel and Youth Hostel is a cozy place with a very international crowd. We can communicate in English, Spanish, French and German.

We are located close to the beach, night life and restaurants, and within easy walking distance from the bus terminals. Laundry service across the street.

The 3-story building has rooms with balconies and views of the ocean. The hotel has 14 rooms with ceiling fans and private baths. The Youth Hostel has 3 dorm rooms with ceiling fans. A 5-room house on the hotel property accommodates 18 people, dorm style. Hot water is available 24 hours a day and purified drinking water is provided. We have a communal kitchen for the convenience of all our guests, where you can prepare your catch of the day. Our bar has been relocated and reopened.

We can give you helpful tips on bus and air connections. Assistance is available for unexpected needs such as finding a doctor in case of a medical emergency, or helping out if you should lose your money, etc.

We are working on laundry facilities and free e-mail for our guests.

We are close to supermarket, bus stations to all major cities like Oaxaca, Acapulco, San Cristobal and Mexico City, and Mazunte and Zipolite are only one and a half hour away.

Apart from private rooms from one to 6 guests, with bath and hot water, many with balcony and hand-woven Oaxaca bedspreads, we have dorms from 4 to 7 people, some with bunks, some with regular beds, lockers, etc. Our communal outdoor kitches is quipped with a stainless steel six-burner stove, stainless steel sinks and work table, commercial refrigerator, microwave, toaster and a cold and hot purified water dispenser. One of our terraces has a billiard table and another a piano, which you may play, although the salt air isn´t exactly conducive to great tuning. There are three new computers and wifi free of charge.

Directions: From the OCC/ADO bus station: turn left to crucero traffic light, cross highway downhill, first turn to the left, end of street. From Terminal Turistica: take taxi, 25 to 30 pesos. Vans from Oaxaca, take taxi or walk doen to crucero, cross highway, etc. Micros and colectivos from Pochutla/Mazunte: Crucero, cross highway, etc. We know a great deal of bus schedules, help in case of financial emergencies, chase down buses for lost ipods(yes, more than once), get a doctor, etc.

Our book shelves sport some books in almost all languages. Well, not quite...almost. Our hostel has some areas designated as non-smoking areas, which include reception, computer and kitchen/dining areas and the one terrace with the piano. (That terrace is designated as a place to quietly read, converse, meditate, and, yes, play the piano.)
There are other areas, like the terrace with the billiard table where smoking is perfectly fine.
