Te Nikau Retreat nestles in the native rainforest adjoining Paparoa National Park and just 3km away are the spectacular Pancake Rocks. A unique accommodation with all home comforts and excellent facilities.
Various cabins, dorms & lodges each enjoying its own privacy being surrounded by the native bush. Fresh bread and muffins baked daily for sale. Beautiful beaches, Truman track, river walks, horse trekking, kayaking close-by. A great place to Relax ~ Restore ~ Explore.
Please note there are no supermarkets, petrol stations or banks in Punakaiki.
* Fresh bread and muffin's are baked daily for sale in our small shop, along with some other essential food supplies.
* Cafes, craft shop, local tavern, information centre and Pancake Rocks are a 5min drive or less than 45min walk away.
There are no supermarkets, petrol stations or ATM machines in Punakaiki but the Punakaiki Tavern serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have a wee shop for food supplies and we bake fresh bread and muffins daily.

This is hosteling done right. Being greeted by staff who actually seem to be happy to meet and help you is always a big plus. A fantastic location away from overly touristy areas, and super close to stunning walks and secluded beaches. You stay in house like accommodation, which creates a fantastic atmosphere. Having freshly baked muffins and bread every morning for a minimal price is incredible, and I loved the idea of the honesty system where you just leave money for items in the small "shop".
