-Closest hostel to San Juan greatest beaches and water sports area, Isla Verde.
-30 minutes to Old San Juan (by bus) and a 20 to 30 mnts walk to restaurants, bars and Casinos of Ashford Avenue and the beaches of Condado and Ocean Park.
-Newly opened in 2012 there is a 24 hour gym a few blocks away.
-Check-in, available OUT of our regular business (03pm to 10:30pm) if arranged in advance.

The SJI Hostel is located in Santurce, the hip arts district of downtown San Juan. As you approach our locale, you will notice the less touristy atmosphere in the form of lower prices and more authentic interactions with those around you.

We are a short walk away from Puerto Rico's Art Museum, the Contemporary Art Museum and a thirty minutes, (fifty cents) bus ride from the cobblestone streets of the colorful colonial city of Old San Juan.

Is our area dangerous? Not at all, we love it and would not be here if it was. We see ourselves as more than a hostel; we see us as your home while in Puerto Rico.
In 2012 and 2013 we were named the #1 hostel in Puerto Rico for our superb value and great service to people like you.

ACCOMMODATION:
A total of 19 beds divided in 3 dormitories and Three Private Rooms, meaning the hostel is the perfect size to make friends and enjoy a great group atmosphere.
Here is a little description of the layout of our accommodations.

MIXED DORMITORIES
2 MIXED with A/C, (2 bunk beds on each, 4 Twin beds) DORM. Total 8 beds. On them, Air Conditioning provided from 8:30pm to 8:00am. Individual high-speed fans provided all day, also mosquitoes proof doors and windows.
1 MIXED NO A/C, (3 bunk beds, 6 Twin beds). NO Air Conditioning. Individual high-speed fans provided also mosquitoes proof doors and windows.

ON THE PRIVATE SIDE:

One BUNK PRIVATE (2 Twins) WITH A/C (8:30pm to 8:00am). Size for this room is 6ft wide by 10ft length by 11ft height. Include windows on each wall for a nice cross breeze, a wash basin, lockers, air fans, table, chair and mosquitoes proof window. (Shared bathroom) This room does not have a double size bed but one bunk bed same as two twins.

One DOUBLE PRIVATE NO AC. Size for this room is 8ft wide by 8ft length by 10ft height. A Cozy one with 1 full-size bed, great for couples. No AC, but great cross-breeze, lockers, ceiling fan, access to courtyard patio, mosquitoes proof door and windows. (Shared bathroom).

One BUNK PRIVATE (2 Twins) with NO A/C. A Tiny alternative on the PrivateBudget side (10ft length x 5 ft wide x 10ft height. Include window, locker, air fans, table, courtyard patio and mosquitoes proof window. (Shared bathroom).

No one under 18 is admitted without a parent or legal guardian. All of which requires an advanced notice.

Internet connection (WiFi) in all our rooms and communal areas.
NO PASSPORT IS NEEDED FOR US CITIZENS; however, an ID is required.
We can accept payments by PayPal or Cash. NO CREDIT CARDS, There is an ATM within walking distance.

Want to travel to other parts of the island but do not want to bring all your big luggage with you?!? We now offer luggage storage, while you travel. For just a small fee we will hold any luggage that doesnot exceed 62 inches (157 cm) when you total length + width + height.



Maximum stay is 7 nights. Extended stays may be granted if approved by management. Regular Business Hours are from 02pm to 10pm. Normal Check in period is from 3:00p to 10p. After hours check-in available upon coordination. Please contact us for info if arriving out of our regular business hours period.
