Singapore's first indie boutique hostel, the newly opened Shophouse The Social Hostel puts up clean, refurbished rooms housed in a beautiful conservation building that is unique to South-East Asia. Shophouse lies along Arab Street, an area famous for its heady mix of culture, arts, dining and fashion.

We offer 6, 8, 12 and 16 bed mixed dorms as well as 8 and 12 bed female-only dorms which lie on an exclusively ladies-only floor.

Shophouse also prides itself on hosting regular social nights on its roof-top terrace and movie room. Think barbecue nights, movie nights and pizza parties. The nearest train station (Bugis) is 300m away, a mere 30-35 minutes direct from Changi International Airport. It would take you about 15-20 minutes by taxi from the airport to reach our doorstep.

Its location, that being smack in between Singapore's CBD, the city's entertainment and shopping belt as well as the party district, makes it easy and quick for one to access the best of the city's offerings.

The hostel occupies a beautiful four-storey conservation hybrid building that is uniquely found in historical centres in South-East Asia. While it maintains the original structural elements of the establishment, rooms have been refurbished to take on a modern, minimalist loft-style look. Think high-ceilinged, well-ventilated and chic rooms that have an eclectic mix of exposed brick walls and polished decor.

We offer 6, 8, 12 and 16 bed mixed dorms as well as 8 and 12 bed female-only dorms which lie on an exclusively ladies-only floor that can only be accessed with a separate keycard.

Each floor enjoys 3 fully-functioning toilets and each room comes with a slew of useful amenities such as complimentary WIFI access, personal reading lights, personal electronic sockets, lockers, air-conditioning and electronic keycard access.

Shophouse also prides itself on hosting regular social nights on its roof-top terrace and lounge. Think barbecue and movie nights.

Our reception is open from 8am to 10pm daily. Please email us if you are checking in after 10pm, and we will advise on late check-in instructions. Check-in: 2pm Check-out: 12pm Cancellation Policy: 2 days before arrival Full payment for room is required upon check-in. You can pay in cash (SGD only) or by credit card (Visa or Mastercard). There is a 5% credit card charge. A deposit in cash of 20 SGD (or currency equivalent) is required upon check-in. All guests have to be at least 16 years of age.
