Sleep at the foot of the mighty Viertausend, down in the valley of the 13 stars, where wine and Mediterranean fruit is grown and the jolly Valais folk meet in the Carnotzet to enjoy a glass of wine. Sitten in German or Sion in French, the capital of the Valais, happily sees itself as the centre of the world. Or at least the Alpine world. And the modern, centrally-located youth hostel is an ideal sports and leisure post from which to discover the whole of the Valais.
The concrete, steel and glass architecture of Sion youth hostel is pleasing to the eye and also provides an effective contrast to the typical wooden chalets of the Valais. And life inside the youth hostel has something to offer as well: the lounge and dining areas are spacious and open-plan, the sleeping quarters are furnished with a sensible number of beds and most have their own balcony and the hostel\'s showers and wash-rooms are of a modern standard. In Summer, the lovely garden terrace, far away from the hubbub and hectic pace of everyday life, and the meadow are inviting places to enjoy some small-talk or play a game with guests from all over the world.

I needed to check out early but the reception only opens at 8am. so the staff suggested i give the key to the lady in the kitchen in the early morning. So the next morning I did so, and also gave her the lock which i borrowed. she gave me 20chf deposit for the room key, but refused to give me the 10chf for the lock. she doesn\'t speak English, and didn\'t seem to understand the german written in the receipt. So at the end, I needed to choose between forgoing the money, or to wait for the recepti Quoc Khanh, from Vietnam ~ 11th Jul 2012
