We stayed in both dorms and a private room, both really good rooms; own bathroom and kitchen area. You can walk to almost everywhere in Oslo from the hostel, the street into town is quite poor (dirty, beggars) but perfectly safe as very busy.

Great place for waht it is, staff very helpful, lobby a great place to meet people. If you just need a place to sleep, I recommend the Anker Hostel.

Although there is a kitchen in some rooms , the staff don't tell you that it is possible to rent pans , dishes etc from them . Makes a big difference to eating in Oslo. The location is great right round the corner from the city centre , I would recommend this to most people

I really like the Anker Hostel: it does come under the "cheap and cheerful" category, but then in Norway, who can complain at that?

A shame that management have adopted a utilitarian system. When you arrive at 8am the last thing you expect is not to get a room until 3pm! Also, the provision of at least a tea towel would be good if you have to pay a deposit of 100 KR to use pots and pans, crockery etc. Otherwise, great location, clean, good sized rooms and a good price for Oslo.
