Our hostel is a great base for exploring, touring, walking and cycling; we're in the centre of the Lake District National Park!
Our large, old traditional cottage is clean and comfortable, with central heating and a manager on-site. We have a large, comfy lounge with a fire and piano, squeaky floors and prehistoric plumbing, a spacious dining room, and, typically of Lakeland cottages, there's steps and stairs everywhere and the windows rattle in gales! We love it here and we hope you will, too.
Prices include a light breakfast, Internet access and tea and coffee. We also have a superbly-equipped kitchen with hobs, microwave, oven, freezer, fridge and storage, so you can cook your own meals if you want to.
We're just seven minutes' walk from Lake Windermere. A number of mountain and valley walks, both ease and strenuous, start from our doorstep. Ours is a hill-walker's hostel so we think you'll come back 'cream crackered' at the end of the day after walking, cycling and touring the lakes all day. With this in mind, we ask all guests to keep quiet after 11pm so you can get a good sleep before heading out again the next day!
Our village has a good choice of restaurants, cafés, pubs and a beautiful church. It offers good shopping, particularly for art, gifts and outdoor gear (not to mention a great chocolate and fudge shop), and good book shops. From here there is easy access by bus, car, foot or bike to all the lakes, mountains and towns in the Lake District.
Come discover the glorious countryside of the Lake District from our charming backpackers' hostel!
We do not accept bookings of stag parties, hens, drinking parties or guests under the age of 18, sorry.
