A backpacker favourite, the HI-Ottawa Jail Hostel is the only hostel in Ottawa with a café/bar, complimentary WiFi, many private rooms w/double beds, a spacious guest kitchen, a 52 inch large screen TV w/satellite, lots of parking spaces and a short walk to all the major downtown attractions!

If you do not hold an HI membership card there will be an additional charge of $5 per person per night.

I stayed here for a night, and I was greeted by the most beautiful girl at reception who was friendly and helpful, the breakfast cooked was delicious and staying in a Prison was a most interesting experience. My only complaint would be the hissing pipe (although it was pretty quiet) outside my room, and perhaps a lounge upstairs would be nice too, but other than that it was the most perfect experience. Absolutely fine accommodation but if you value peace and quiet it\'s probably not for you. Lots of teenage kids running around at night but reception does supply free ear plugs! So close to all the main sites though and very comfy bed. Louise, from Scotland ~ 2nd Nov 2011
