Flying Pig Uptown
The Flying Pig Uptown is centrally located, with the museum on one side and the fashion district and Leidseplein on the other.
Leidseplein is full of entertainment with tourists and locals going to the concert halls, clubs, bars and coffee shops there. The Red Light District is only a 15-minute walking distance from here. Across from the hostel is Vondelpark, a great park for chilling out on a sunny day with a few drinks, smoking, playing games or having picnics. You can see a cultural or musical performance for free in the park which has a stage for this kind of entertainment.
Experience the relaxed atmosphere of the Flying Pig, where we have an indoor smoking area, a bar with themed nights, DJ and cheap drinks and somewhere you can sit back and watch free movies.
We have dorms and private rooms, most of which are equipped with showers and toilets, with single or queen-size bunk-beds. The private rooms are equipped with a small fridge and a telly.
We also provide free lockers (bring your own padlock or buy one from us for €5), book exchange, snacks for sale, a pay phone, hostel products, free use of the safe at reception and a shuttle bus (Amsterdam - Beach Hostel). We sell tickets at reception. There's no curfew.
The hostel is a great place for meeting people and the staff is friendly and helpful. We offer a free walking tour, free map, free skates to use and discounts on stuff to do in Amsterdam. With our key card you can get 50% off your entrance to Winston Kingdom club.
All major attractions can be easily reached and are just a short walk away. These include the Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum, the Concert Building, Chinatown, historic sites and attractions and the 'I Amsterdam' letters.
There are shopping streets in the area and markets including the Albert Cuijp. The Heineken Museum is also an interesting spot and there is also the Club Paradiso where you can experience the nightlife of the city.
