Shelter City provides guests with great facilities at an affordable price in Amsterdam. The hostel is clean, comfortable and has a friendly atmosphere created by the staff and guests who come from all over the world. Guests can walk to the main tourist attractions such as Dam Square, small China Town and the Red Light District. The hostel is centrally located which means that it is close to Central Station and therefore guests have easy access to anywhere in the city. The hostel provides great facilities at reasonable prices and a homely atmosphere. Here you will find welcoming international staff speaking English and always willing to help. There's a courtyard and a cafe in the hostel, where you can chill out and relax with some drinks, snacks and meet new people from all over the globe. You can smoke cigarettes in the courtyard only. There is no alcohol, drugs or smoking allowed at Shelter City. Rooms are single sex of 4-8 beds and 12-16 beds and all dorms are single-sex. Large rooms are divided into sections. This creates more privacy. Prices include taxes. Beds are ready for guests after 13:30. If you book two or more beds, you are not guaranteed the same room for all beds. Make sure you book the correct sex room otherwise your reservation cannot be guaranteed. A 10 Euro deposit is required for rooms of 4-8 beds that guest will get back when they return the key at check out. Please bring your own padlock or buy one from reception for the free lockers provided.

If any guests fail to do so or do not show up, one night's stay is charged on their credit card. This property has specific Terms & Conditions.Check-in: 1330. This hostel is smoke-free, drug-free and alcohol-free. We have a 48hr cancellation policy. Late cancellations and no-shows shall be charged the equivalent of the first night�s accommodation. These conditions also apply if the date of arrival has been changed by phone or email. There is an extra charge of 5 Euro if you make a group booking for just one night and it�s a Friday, Saturday, or 17, 18, 19, 25, 26, 27 May or 28, 29, 30, 31 December 2012. You can smoke cigarettes in the courtyard. There�s no curfew. Animals are not permitted. If you have booked more than one bed we can�t guarantee you�ll be put in the same room. Our dorms are segregated by gender; if you book the wrong room we can�t guarantee your accommodation. There are free lockers. Please bring your own padlock or buy one at reception. If the lock is built into the locker you can borrow the key for a 10 Euro deposit. There is a 10 Euro key deposit for the four-to-eight-person rooms. We only accept bookings of up to 20 people on Hostelworld.

Schiphol Airport is situated 18 km from Amsterdam. Trains from the airport leave frequently to Amsterdam Centraal Station. The trip takes takes 20 minutes and costs about 4 euro. From Centraal Station:Take metro 51, 53 or 54 (underground) from Central Station (ticket about 3 euro). Get off at the first stop; it's called Nieuwmarkt. Cross the square into Barndesteeg. Shelter City is at number 21.Or go by foot (a 10 minute walk). From Centraal Station main entrance, walk towards Damrak (in the direction of city centre). Immediately after the bridge turn left unto Prins Hendrikkade. Cross the street into Zeedijk. At the end of Zeedijk you enter a square called Nieuwmarkt (castle in the middle). Take the third street on your right, called Barndesteeg. Shelter City is at number 21.From Eurolines bus station:The Eurolines bus station is next to Amstel Station. From Amstel Station take metro 51, 53 or 54 heading for Centraal Station (ticket about 3 euro). Get off at Nieuwmarkt. Cross the square into Barndesteeg. Shelter City is at number 21.By car:From the ring road A10, take exit S112. Follow the signs for 'Centrum'.At the end of S112 you'll come to a roundabout (Mr. Visserplein). Take the second exit (into Valkenburgerstraat). Before the tunnel keep right and then turn left into Prins Hendrikkade. Turn left at Geldersekade. At Nieuwmarkt (a square with a castle) take the third street on your right, called Barndesteeg. Shelter City is at number 21.
