The local ferry - within walking distance from the guesthouse - brings you in 10 minutes in Aswan centre.when arriving to Bet el Kerem, the ferry location on the west bank is next to the Alexander ferry, you will see the Aswan train station across the main road (Corniche). This is the local ferry, it takes about 5 minutes to cross (get off and walk up the dust trail and stay to your right and a few minutes will take you to Bet el Kerem. The ferry ride is only 1 Egyptian pound. Dont ask the guy collecting the money, he will tell you it is 5 or 10 pounds/person. just put your coins down and get into the boat that the locals are sitting in. It leaves every 15 to 20 mins. or until the boat is full.
In case you can't find it, you might phone our agent Tarik on his mobile phone (002) 012 3842218, or Abdel (002) 012 3911052.
We arrange transfers from Luxor, from Aswan airport and from the railway station as well.
The guesthouse is located in front of the pharaonic Tombs of the Nobles, at the edge of the Nubian villages and on walking distance from the local ferry boat; you are in 10 minutes in Aswan centre.
The West bank is quiet and staying in the village means living with the local Nubian population (in pharaonic history 'the black pharaohs'), who will welcome you as one of them, not as a tourist.
Although it is opposite Aswan centre, living in a Nubian village feels like being far away from the mass tourist resorts. This is highly appreciated by our clients. They learn about the Nubian culture and traditions and find back what is lost in the modern European life style: a relaxed atmosphere and a warm social community life.
In and around Aswan youll find a lot of (historical) sights:
* pharaonic tombs and temples
- The Tombs of the Nobles,
- the Isis temple on Philae Island,
* The Kalabsha temple past Lake Nasser
* Other Nubian monuments around Lake Nasser
* the unfinished obelisk'
* St. Simeon monastery from the 6th century
* The Nubian museum
* A boat trip on the river Nile is recommended,
* as well as a camel trip in the Nubian desert.
* or rent a bike at the guesthouse to discover the West bank on your own
* we arrange henna painting if you like
