The Barra de Santiago peninsula is a protected natural area and has the third biggest mangrove forest (and the best preserved one) in the country. This is an excellent place for bird watching and the nearby mangroves are the scenery for exciting adventures by boat. Due to successful conservation programs now many species such as crocodiles and reptiles are easy to spot along the riverbed. The beach is long and wide and secluded and most times you have the luxury of being the only person there
