Showers in the downstairs women's bathrooms were very dirty! The floors of the showers were covered with old hair, and dirt and it was not pleasant to shower. It was hard to keep clean clothes from touching the floor when trying to get dressed. Also western style toilet kept blocking up. Dorms smelt mouldy and unclean.

I used to think the Far East was a little out of the way... and it was difficult for taxi drivers to find it - but this time we used the subway nearby and it was easy, cheap, and convenient!

Apparently, the hostel is actually in the same building as a hotel with a similar name, which confused me. The building itself is a bit of a walk from the nearest subway station, but in an interesting section of town. All the staff speak English and there is a travel agent on hand that can book all sorts of group and private tours. My room was upgraded for free from a hostel dorm to an actual hotel room, so that was a bonus!
